My real name is Derek Ellis, I’m a 18 year old Automotive photographer and I also do videography. My goal is to reach a large group of people on any media platform to share my creative work with others that enjoy viewing it just as much as I do.
I’m a automotive photographer based in Akron, Ohio. What separates me as a photographer from other photographers are the visions I'm not only able to have, but am able to execute through my camera. My signature style is a style called “shutter-drag” which allows you to draw light wherever you want your light-source(s) to go.

“What makes a picture good?” I think if a photo can evoke strong emotions towards your audience, with proper composition, placement, lighting, and subject, then it’s considered a good photo. It took me so long to understand what photography really means and what makes a photo good, but once you understand that concept, you can grow to be great.

This is a perfect example of what shutter-drag is. I use this effect a lot to express a chaotic feeling. This is one of the very many ways I have to express my exact feelings.

There’s so many photographers who look up to big creators and big photographers, and i’ve noticed they try to imitate their styles and implement it into their photos from taking the picture to the entire editing process. I want to be different from everyone else and branch off into my own style of photography to be able to express my own feelings the way I want to. I want to be able to inspire others with the things that I love and love to do. I feel like so many photographers end up quitting or relying on motivation and losing it because they’re not the person the they look up to, and they don’t understand the meaning of photography.
